I studied at the Art Institute of Phoenix from 1999 to 2000 and the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale from 1996 to 1999. loans for private education. Has anyone else who studied at AI before to 2004 succeeded in having their student loans forgiven? If yes, how did you go about having the loans forgiven?

The government doesn’t offer “free money” in the sense of handouts. However, there are government programs that provide financial assistance for specific needs like education, housing, or healthcare. These often have eligibility requirements.
Be wary of scams promising free money.

Borrower Defense to Repayment does not apply to private student loans; nonetheless, many people wrongly believe that their older commercial FFEL loans—which are federal loans—are private.
The safeguards that apply to actual private loans are different. Regarding Navient private loans specifically, I think Navient is discharging some debt through their office of consumer advocate. You could inquire over the phone with your lender, but I wouldn’t be hopeful.
