Anyone else notice a payment date change from 2/2025 to 5/2025 recently?

Like many others with Nelnet, my payment date was set for 2/2025, but it was recently changed to 5/2025. This change happened right after the ‘STOP SAVE’ or whatever it was called switched to ‘FORBEARANCE’ two weeks ago. My recertification date is still the same, but the payment date is different now. I also found a link with info that might be new here, though I could be wrong? It talks about forgiveness, hardship tests, and other changes coming up.

Same here. But my recertification date got pushed back to 2026.

Same. With my balance over 200k, I’m fine with the delay. It’s frustrating for those close to paying off, but for us with advanced degrees and low-paying jobs, this delay is honestly a blessing.

@Yan
Same for me.

@Yan
Exactly. They are still behind on my recertification, and I just went from making 52k to 150k. I now have 185k in student loans. I’m not rushing to change anything until I’m told to do so. Right now, I’m just focusing on paying off my other bills.

Same here. According to the unofficial counter, I’m at 361 payments and needed 300 for forgiveness. Hope this means I’m close to forgiveness.

I hope so for you and everyone else in the same boat!

Where do you find the counter?

@Aris
You have to log in to your student aid account, then search for the JSON link. It’s on the forum if you want to find it. I can’t link it right now since I’m on my phone.

Here’s the link: https://studentaid.gov/app/api/nslds/payment-counter/summary. Just make sure you’re logged in first.

I need to look into that too. What about if I took out loans in 2007, filed for bankruptcy between 2010 and 2012, and now haven’t made a payment in four years due to health issues? How does the 25-year rule apply in this situation? I need to call Sloan about this, I’m in the IBR program.

Same here. I also had a payment scheduled for Feb 9, but that’s gone now too.

Like clockwork, every month after receiving a statement from Nelnet, I get a letter saying my account is in disaster forbearance, so no payment is due.

Same for me. I posted about it last night. :sweat_smile:

Same here.

Mine did the same.
