@Lyric
Exactly.

While student loans are important to people in this forum, it’s not really a top issue for most people in this election.

We’re stuck right now. The Biden administration did a lot to help, but the courts are trying to stop it. We need to vote for people who will protect these plans.
Harris won’t campaign on it because it might look like an empty promise after everything that’s been blocked in the courts. I’m sure she’ll keep pushing for it, but it doesn’t help her to campaign on it.
No, I think Harris will keep fighting for it. There will be challenges, but it’s good for the economy to help people with student loans.
You’re going to have to pay your own loans.
Neither candidate cares about student loans. No one’s going to help.

I just want an income-based repayment plan again. Otherwise, we’re stuck with regular term loans.

The income-based plans still exist. It’s the forgiveness part of SAVE that’s causing issues.
Yes, but other income-based plans still exist. This was always a possibility.

I’m pretty sure SAVE replaced most of the other plans. I was switched automatically.

It replaced REPAYE, but IBR and ICR are still there. People weren’t forced to switch.
I was switched automatically, and it raised my payments. The old plans might still exist, but I didn’t have a choice.
@Tanner
The forgiveness part of SAVE is not that different from REPAYE or PAYE. What’s holding things up now is more about politics than the actual structure of the plan.
@Tanner
Schumer and others wanted Biden to forgive up to 50K in loans, so there’s been a lot of debate on how much should be forgiven.
