Applied for loan forgiveness after 10 years… how long until I hear back?

I’ve just applied for loan forgiveness after 10 years of service. Will the government drag this out, or is it quicker now? Has anyone else gone through this? What was your experience like?

Have you been submitting your certifications every year? If you have, the process is usually quicker. If not, it could take a while—maybe several months.

The process seems much faster now, especially if you used the e-signature option. Some people are saying it’s taking days, not months.

@Rory
That’s great to hear. Mine took over a year to process last year, and I was already at 15 years by then. Glad it’s improving!

You might want to check this forum for updates. Timelines seem to have improved, but it’s still possible it could take a few months to get the loans cleared.

Thanks for the info!

Let’s hope they process it before the next administration takes over.
