Confused About Aidvantage Bill After Switching to SAVE – Anyone Else?

How are you…

I just got a notice from Aidvantage saying I owe almost $900, and I’m super confused. I thought we were still in deferment? Here’s the deal:
I switched to SAVE after months of going back and forth with Aidvantage and dealing with their awful website. My last bill was $92 due on 8/26, but I was told I’d be in deferment starting 8/8. Since then, I haven’t heard anything.
Then today, literally an hour ago, I got a notification about a change in my payment schedule. I opened it up, and it says:

  • 107 payments at $893, due on 2/26/25
  • 17 payments at $788, due on 9/26/33 I don’t get why I suddenly owe close to $900 when no one told me deferment was ending. I was only paying $92 before all this. Anyone else going through something like this? Any idea what’s happening?

Would love any help!

Income-Driven Repayment (IDR) Calculation : Unlike certain other IDR plans, the SAVE Plan calculates income in a different way. As a result, your monthly payment may be reduced.

Your monthly payment may be altered if your family’s size has changed since you joined the SAVE Plan. :relieved:

Your monthly payment may be adjusted based on changes in your income.

For comprehensive details on your new payment, including the variables that affected the computation, see your online account.

You can create a repayment plan :hugs: that works for your financial position with the assistance of a financial advisor.
