: Debt Paid Off After 22 Years – Success Story and Reflections

Hey People…

I’m thrilled to share that after 22 years, I’ve finally paid off my student loans! I took out my first loans back in 2002 and finished grad school in 2009. I borrowed around $25k for undergrad and $45k for my master’s, but keeping track of everything has been a nightmare. The recordkeeping was a mess, and dealing with servicers, especially EdFinancial, was incredibly frustrating. Even though I made regular payments and paid extra when I could, the whole process was a hassle.
Anyway, I’m in a great financial spot now and made my last payment this week. It feels amazing to have this burden finally lifted. I don’t know exactly how much I ended up paying, but I remember that about five years ago, I owed more than I originally borrowed.
I’m going to unsubscribe from this sub because it’s been a big source of stress for me. Even though I spent over $30k in the past year to clear this debt, I still hope the government will forgive a lot of student debt for borrowers. It’s frustrating to see so much support for billionaires while there’s so much pushback against helping people who’ve worked hard to better their communities. A well-educated population benefits everyone. TiA
Wishing you all the best, and I hope you find a way to get through this just like I did.

Paying off debt after 22 years :unamused: is an amazing accomplishment! Many people have inspiring stories about clearing their debts, often sharing useful lessons and insights from their experiences.

For instance, Anthony and Jhanilka Hartzog paid off $114,000 in debt right before the COVID-19 pandemic started. They accomplished this by setting up a budget that suited their needs.

Another motivating story is Kenley Young’s, who cleared more than $20,000 in credit card debt :innocent:. He achieved this by using strategies like budgeting and reducing expenses.

:unamused:These stories highlight that with determination, careful planning, and sometimes a bit of sacrifice, you can overcome major financial hurdles

You can work hard and offset this bills its a a :face_with_raised_eyebrow:matter of time congratulations
