I recently spoke with Ed Financial, but they couldn’t locate any records of my account, even though Granite State Management assured me that all my federal loans had been transferred over. All my loans were paid off before the pandemic-related transfer.
It sounds frustrating to deal with discrepancies in loan transfers between Granite State Management and Ed Financial. When I switched loan servicers in the past, I also encountered initial confusion and delays in records updating. My advice would be to follow up persistently with both Granite State Management and Ed Financial, ensuring all necessary paperwork and records are transferred accurately.
Like you, I paid off all of my student debts with Granite State between May 2020 and May 2021. I believe that my account was “closed” soon after I made the last payment. Granite State moved everyone to EdFinancial in the summer of 2021. When I phoned EdFinancial today and said that I had previously worked for Granite State, they were able to quickly access my past records using my Social Security number. I then asked for a return of the loans that I had paid for at that time. They are going to setup an EdFinancial account for me once my return has been completed.
Your information would not have been transferred to Granite State as you made your payment in full before the transition.
You’re probably out of luck if you’re looking for this information in order to ask for a return on your loans because they were paid off in full before a transfer.
