I still owe on Art Institute loans, according to Nelnet. Anyone else?

Some have even gotten reimbursement checks. Others have seen their loan amounts drop to $0. And yet, I’m receiving emails telling me that my $385 payment is coming up tomorrow. Have I overlooked anything? Was there anything I needed to do to help get these removed? That’s all; I’ve already contacted to confirm my address in case I get the claimed returns. Does anyone have further details?

I have a different lender, but I’m experiencing the same issue where my loans haven’t been cleared. I called the lender this morning, and they referred me to the federal borrower defense number since they had no information. I was told there’s no timeline for when the loans will be discharged, only that they will be. They also advised me to ensure all my information was accurate, which it is. They repeatedly confirmed that the loans would be discharged but couldn’t provide a timeline. (Personally, I found it quite unhelpful that all they could do was tell me to just wait.)

To be honest, I have no idea what is going on with them. Although my balance indicates $0, there is no word about the reimbursement. Even if I’m really appreciative, when it comes to repaying debt, they don’t think twice to use coercive methods to obtain the money; nevertheless, when it works the other way around, getting money back is a waiting game. I apologize; I realize that what I said had nothing to do with your circumstances, but I simply needed to vent since Nelnet irritates me.

What’s written in your NSLDS file (Download My… )? Please upload your Borrower’s Defense to Repayment letter to Nelnet if you have received it. Next, give them a call. The process of closing your file may take months after you receive your BDR and refund. A great deal of reviewing. vexing

@LoanLarry If the payments were paused, waiting would not be so terrible. However, it is stressful to demand payment for loans that I am not meant to be paying.

@Scofield I get what you’re saying. The only bright spot is that I get to bully people now. I’m hoping that if I make enough calls, something will happen! I wish you the same luck.

@Meech I appreciate the idea; I already uploaded my Notice of Borrower Defense Discharge Approval letter to Nelnet. I’ll give them a call tomorrow. Regarding the NSLDS file, may I ask what it is and if I require an NSLDS account in order to obtain it?
