Lender or Broker – Where Should I Start My MLO Career?

Hallo…

I’m a new MLO (Mortgage Loan Originator) and I’ve got a few job offers on the table. I’m trying to decide what’s the best way to kick off my career: should I go with a broker or a lender? :anguished:
What are the ups and downs of each? I’d love to hear your experiences and any tips you have for someone just starting out.
Your response is welcome…

Usually, :astonished:lenders interact directly with borrowers to establish rapport and gain a personal understanding of their demands.

In-house underwriting, processing, and closing teams are common among lenders, which makes the process more efficient. :anguished:

Brokers operate :innocent: their businesses with greater liberty, choosing their own schedules and handling their own workloads.

Do you wan :thinking:t greater flexibility and control over your employment or do you want to have a long-term career with a particular lender?

To have a deeper grasp of the sector, :thinking:it might be beneficial to look into local lenders and brokers, talk to experts in the field, and think about enrolling in a mortgage loan originator course.
