I thought I’d have a record of payments from before COVID and the $0 payments during the COVID forbearance. Does anyone know if there’s another way to find this info besides Account History?
Also, Mohela moved me from the SAVE plan to a standard one, and now I have a payment due in two weeks. I’ve tried reapplying for SAVE or another income-based plan, but my applications are still processing. I called their hotline, but it was closed. The automated message said to ignore payment notices, but I’m not sure if that applies to me because I didn’t ask to switch plans. I’ll try calling again tomorrow, but I’ve heard the wait times can be crazy long.
Feeling really lost here. Is anyone else dealing with this? Any advice would help.
Was Mohela your servicer before COVID? My loans were with MyFedLoan but got transferred to Mohela a year or two ago. Mohela doesn’t have any of my old payment history from before they took over.
If you check the StudentAid.gov site, they do keep a record of your payments. It’s not easy to find, but you can download your loan history there. I did that and sorted through the info myself.
Also, income-based plans usually need you to reapply every year. Maybe you missed the deadline? It’s worth reapplying as soon as you can.
You’re not wrong about missing payment history. When Mohela updated their website a while back, a lot of info disappeared. The old site had detailed payment counts and other useful stuff, but now it’s just bare bones.
If you want more details, try checking StudentAid.gov. They still keep a record of payments and other data that Mohela no longer shows. Honestly, it’s a mess. I took screenshots of everything before the switch because I’ve been burned before when my loans got transferred to other servicers. The system makes it way harder than it needs to be for borrowers to stay on top of things.
