Nelnet letter indicates full payment

Hi everyone,

I received a letter from Nelnet dated 9/17/2023 stating that my loan is paid in full. However, my balance still shows that I owe $61,000. I made a payment of $15,000 on 10/28 before interest resumed. I am confused about what this letter means. Any insights? It feels too good to be true that the entire loan is paid off.

Hallo miles,listen for free
a letter from Nelnet stating full payment is a great sign! It likely means your student loans serviced by Nelnet are fully paid off.

You’re right. My payment to Nelnet, which was sent today, should be credited tomorrow. Also displayed is the loan balance on StudentAid.gov. Lately, Nelnet’s website has far too many problems. Since they changed everyone’s status to either “in school” or “military,” they even eliminated my current situation.

It appears that Nelnet sent you a letter confirming the full repayment of your student loans. Best wishes! This indicates that you have repaid your debt in full and are no longer in arrears with them. Furthermore It’s always a good indication if you received a letter from Nelnet saying that your student loan was fully paid off. This indicates that you are no longer required to make loan payments and that the remaining amount has been paid off.

I recommend reaching out to Nelnet directly to clarify the situation. They should be able to provide you with a detailed breakdown of your account balance and explain why the letter indicated that your loan was paid in full.
