Essentially what the title indicates. The answer is undoubtedly no for a very excellent reason, but I can’t help but wonder why that reasoning doesn’t hold water.

The situation is more complicated than it might seem, even if a negative balance might indicate that a return or payment is owed.
Any overpayment made before to the loan’s discharge could result in a negative balance when it is dismissed. This does not, however, imply that you have a right to payment from the loan servicer. Accounting changes, interest accruals, or other administrative causes could be the cause of the negative balance.
