When Do I Start Paying Back My Student Loans?

Good afternoon…
I could really use some advice. I’m a high school senior and don’t know much about student loans, but I already know I won’t qualify for financial aid. My plan is to go to school to become a PA (Physician Assistant), so that’s four years of college, then two years of PA school. I’ll probably need loans for both.
My question is: when do I actually have to start paying them back? Do I start after undergrad, or once I finish PA school?
Also, community college isn’t an option—my parents won’t let me go, and if you’ve got strict Asian parents, you know what I mean . Any advice would be awesome!

Best of luck…

Most federal student loans have a six-month grace period. Accordingly, payments won’t become due until six months following your graduation, your departure from school, or your enrollment falling below half-time.

:unamused:There is a nine-month grace period for Perkins loans.

Usually have no grace period and interest begins to accrue right away.

may have various terms for repayment, so it’s crucial to speak with your lender.
While some could provide a grace period, :face_with_raised_eyebrow: others might demand cash right away.

It’s a good idea to start making payments as soon as you can to lower your total debt because interest may still accrue during the grace period.
