I logged into Nelnet today, and it shows all my loans were paid off on 9/28/23, totaling $53,000.
Recently, I applied for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program and the SAVE plan. However, I am only 7 years into the 10 years required for PSLF qualification.
As of 9/20/23, my account indicated a payment was due on 10/3/23.
On StudentAid.gov, it still shows Nelnet as my student loan provider with a total balance of $53,000.
Does anyone know how I can figure out what’s going on?
Did my loans get transferred? If so, why wasn’t I notified via email or any correspondence on Nelnet? Why isn’t this reflected on StudentAid.gov?
Any insight on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated!
Nelnet sent me the identical thing. claims that my student loans have been fully paid off and lists the ones that have, yet the amount I still owe remains the same. I’m unable to visit student.gov because it is unavailable. I tried calling, but there was an absurd wait! I’m just unsure of my ability to be joyful.
Your previous loan servicer may show that your loan account is cleared. This could appear as “paid in full” on their website or on your credit report. It doesn’t mean your loan has been forgiven. This is a normal part of the loan transfer process.
