Anyone else notice a payment date change from 2/2025 to 5/2025 recently?

Same for me, my payment got pushed to 5/2025. My recertification date is still 10/2025, but I’ve heard that when you recertify, it can trigger a forbearance period that accrues interest. Does anyone know what happens if you don’t recertify?

@Whitney
I would assume this is still accurate:

@Drew
Thanks! I guess if forbearance is extended again, my recertification will get pushed too, since it’s not until 10/2025.

Yes, that’s what I think will happen. If forbearance continues, they’ll likely adjust the recertification process. For mine, they’ve set it up so the servicer can handle it without me having to remember.

Mine was pushed back to 09/2025.

Can the new administration change this?

I don’t know. I’ve been reading about court rulings and updates to the rules here:

https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2024/11/15/2024-26698/income-contingent-repayment-plan-options

It doesn’t sound like the new administration can just wipe everything clean, but I think the current Department of Education is trying to find a way to comply with the Higher Education Act of 1965.

Same here. I noticed the change on Wednesday.

I saw that too.

Mine’s now set to 12/2025. I swear they make this loan stuff more confusing on purpose.

Same here. I’m not dealing with Nelnet until they ask me to take action. It took them three months to respond to my last request, so I’m just going to pay off everything else and wait. I’ll enjoy the forbearance while it lasts.
