Hello to all of you! Navient just threatened to file charges against me in a letter since I haven’t paid my student loan since May. I have no idea what to do or what to anticipate.

You mentioned that you and your spouse earn more than 85% of people and that your mortgage is $2,300 each month. Given this, it’s puzzling why you’re not paying off your loans. There seems to be a discrepancy here.

Navient might try to scare you into paying by sending threatening letters, but just receiving one of these letters doesn’t mean you’re being sued. To be officially sued, you’d need to be served legal papers by law enforcement or a process server. Even if you get a threatening letter, it’s still a good idea to consult with a lawyer and respond. Keep in mind that making any payment, no matter how small, will restart the statute of limitations clock.
